HAVEN offers shelter and counseling to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse in Oakland County, Michigan. Abuse is a painful reality in the Detroit area. The victims are targets of men who know just how to lure them in. Then they gradually convince these women they deserve the abuse and threaten them if they try to leave.
We wanted to shift the focus away from the abused women to expose the abusers for the clever manipulators that they are. We wanted to let women know they are part of an ugly ploy. It's not their fault. And there is a way out.
